Travel Photo Thursday: Crowfoot Glacier, Banff National Park
You’ll find Crowfoot Glacier in Banff National Park, about 32 kilometers (20 miles) northwest of Lake Louise. There’s a good spot to photograph it from the highway though if you climb up Cirque Peak the views of it are amazing.
Here are a few shots to give you an idea of just how beautiful the area happens to be around the glacier.

@Julia @Denise @Mike It was one of those rare September days where it was short sleeve weather even up in the mountains and the views were even more stunning than my photos show.
I never tire of looking at the turquoise coloured lakes either.
@Cathy – It was a glorious world up high – and one I want to keep exploring for a long time to come. I’ve just nibbled at the top of the proverbial iceberg so far.
Lovely! Seeing photos of Banff (and oh anywhere in Canada) makes me homesick. We have such a beautiful country. <3

@Raymond – It’s Banff National Park, not the Banff townsite that has glaciers.
@Cheryl I feel very lucky to be able to explore the Rockies on a regular basis now. They are truly gorgeous.
Seen lots of photos of Banff but none like this. Great shots!

Thanks Nancie.
@Jeremy I had the perfect day and the glacier doesn’t move much so no excuse for not getting a few good shots – except I really didn’t know what I had till I got home with the sun shining on the screen.
Wow, what an amazing view!
Oh, wow. How gorgeous!!

@Sophie Glaciers always look wonderful from afar despite being such an inhospitable environment to be on for more than a few hours.
@Jenna We were lucky to have had such a perfect weather day to capture the image.
Looks heavenly. The first pic might as well pass off as something from other planet!!
Visited the Himalayas last year and really it was these kind of scenes, that enthralled me…
Have a nice Sunday.

Arti, We had such fine clear weather on the day I took the photo that it does look a little surreal. Not quite as gorgeous as the Himalayas I don’t think, but pretty darned good. Thanks for commenting.
Absolutely breathtaking images. Thanks for sharing these, and now I must plan my own trip Banff NP.
@Hunter – The area around Crowfoot Glacier is world class in its scenery. You can’t help but be impressed though you do need a clear day.
