Travel Photo Thursday: Crowfoot Glacier, Banff National Park

PinExt Travel Photo Thursday: Crowfoot Glacier, Banff National Park

You’ll find Crowfoot Glacier in Banff National Park, about 32 kilometers (20 miles) northwest of Lake Louise. There’s a good spot to photograph it from the highway though if you climb up Cirque Peak the views of it are amazing.

Here are a few shots to give you an idea of just how beautiful the area happens to be around the glacier.

  7. @Julia @Denise @Mike It was one of those rare September days where it was short sleeve weather even up in the mountains and the views were even more stunning than my photos show.

  9. @Cathy – It was a glorious world up high – and one I want to keep exploring for a long time to come. I’ve just nibbled at the top of the proverbial iceberg so far.

  12. @Raymond – It’s Banff National Park, not the Banff townsite that has glaciers.

  18. @Jeremy I had the perfect day and the glacier doesn’t move much so no excuse for not getting a few good shots – except I really didn’t know what I had till I got home with the sun shining on the screen.

  25. Arti, We had such fine clear weather on the day I took the photo that it does look a little surreal. Not quite as gorgeous as the Himalayas I don’t think, but pretty darned good. Thanks for commenting.

  27. @Hunter – The area around Crowfoot Glacier is world class in its scenery. You can’t help but be impressed though you do need a clear day.
