This month’s issue of National Geographic Traveler has ranked and published a list of 133 places worldwide that are considered iconic tourist destinations. They continue to rate the places that were originally on the list when they started the process in 2003 but add in a few more to keep it interesting.

Lists are ubiquitous these days.

However, this list does serve a purpose by way of pointing you to places that are in particularly good or particuarly bad shape. Perhaps you could base your own self guided adventure tour around one of the ones in excellent or good shape.
