Whose afraid of heights?
Whose afraid of heights?
If you answered yes, then you probably don’t want to venture out onto the recently installed glass balconies 1,353 feet above the busy streets of Chicago in what was formerly called the Sears Tower. (It was renamed the Willis Tower on July 16, 2009)

Looking down from the Sears Tower
A trip to the top of the Sears Tower has always been one of the ‘must do’ activities for out of town visitors. From 1974-1998 it was the tallest free standing structure in the world and it still remains the tallest building in the United States and the fifth tallest in the world.
I guess the thrill of feeling vulnerable and the price one can charge for that thrill has spurred the construction of these see through balconies. In March 2007, the Skywalk was opened in the Grand Canyon. There was (and probably continues to be) plenty of controversy on that structure as the critics believe it defaces one of the world’s natural wonders. However, at $US30 a ticket for an adult it produces a revenue stream for the native Indians of the area. You can be the judge.
