Travel Photo Thursday: Desolation Sound Sea Kayaking
Desolation Sound, found at the northern end of British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast is world famous for its summer boat cruising. It also draws lots of sea kayakers – not only for the beauty but for the fact that the waters are warm enough for swimming in the summer. You can easily spend a week to 10 days in this area poking around the islands and islets. Once past the actual Marine Provincial Park you’re unlikely to see anything but the odd sailboat.

Shell beaches north of Desolation Sound - a great place to pull over for a pit stop

Mossy trees around the Desolation Sound shoreline

Starfish are everywhere - and the seagulls love them

Inlets to explore and nice rocks for camping

Super calm water - though not for long.

Very nice! Beautiful and unusual shots. Those starfish are amazing. Would love to have lunch at that restaurant!
The food and coffee was a nice change from our menu – especially since we’d been out on the water for over a week.

Thanks for posting to TP Thursday.
Desolation Sound is stunning country – especially in the sunshine.
What a beautiful region (and photographs). The little of what I’ve seen of Canada’s natural beauty has been very impressive. Can’t wait to see more of it.
It may not be on the scale of Denali but it is beautiful country.
