Prince Edward Island - Bike Tour
Detailed itinerary coming in August 2010.
Prince Edward Island is Canada’s smallest province and the perfect summertime destination for an easy cycling trip. Enjoy a combination of cycling on the Confederation Trail , a route on abandoned rail beds through largely pastoral landscapes, to lovely on road riding through PEI’s National Park. The roads may be slightly hilly at times but the maximum elevation is only 400 feet so it is never onerous.
Start in Tignish, close to the western tip of PEI and head east for about 250 kms until you reach the East Point Lighthouse. Along the way, enjoy a wide choice in accommodation from friendly, family run B&B’s to full scale resorts. Dining is excellent and you won’t want to miss the ever present and sublimely delicous lobster rolls.
Off and away from the bike tour you can take time to walk miles of deserted beaches, wander through antique shops, play a round of golf, visit the home of Anne of Green Gables or do nothing…like a real holiday.
This is a trip that will be both relaxing and rejuvenating. The pace will be slow but you’ll quickly succumb to the rhythm of this peaceful part of Maritime Canada.
