I agree with Frank, that is quite a list! I think it’s got everything that a backpacker might need. Like the author, I also cannot travel without my laptop and other gizmos. I’ve just bought a daypack that has space to store a laptop. The backpack is from Briggs & Riley’s BRX collection. It’s pretty roomy for carrying essentials like a water bottle, snack bars, camera, sunscreen, first aid kit, etc.

The best thing you can do to walk 13-15 miles per day for many days in a row is to put in the miles beforehand. Three days of walking that are similar in length to what you'll be doing, in the shoes or boots that you plan to wear, will at least alert you to any shortcomings in your training program. A program of leg strengthening and core conditioning would also help you.

Thanks for taking the time to comment.

I felt much the way you felt - though I was even happier to see a Cumbria Way sign a few miles outside of Caldbeck. The Keswock to Caldbeck day on the Cumbria Way was my favourite, despite the route finding angst.

Unfortunately Compeed is sold only in Europe and New Zealand as far as I can tell but it's worth getting friends going to the countries that sell it to pick up a couple of sizes of 'bandages.' They aren't cheap - about 4.50 British pounds for 5 of them but they are worth every penny.
