Me With The Book I Co-authored - 125 Nature Hot Spots In Alberta

Happy 10th Birthday to HikeBikeTravel + 10 Giveaways

This month I am celebrating the 10th anniversary of my blog – HikeBikeTravel. I’m in awe at how quickly the years have slipped by and the fact my blog is still very much around. I’d like to say a big thank you to all who have stood with me (and put up with me!!) since the beginning.

When I started I knew nothing about writing, photography, marketing, SEO, social media, pitching – in fact anything related to the blogosphere. On dozens of occasions I was ready to throw in the towel but every so often a bone would be thrown my way and I’d persevere.

I’ve had a longer learning curve than some bloggers (being a geologist and dietitian didn’t help much) but I do feel like I’ve finally hit my stride. I love what I do, especially the opportunities to travel the world and meet interesting people. I’m proud of my new website that went live last week. (Note: If there are any glitches you see let me know.) I’d like to extend a huge thank you to the companies and organizations that have stepped up and offered goodies to contest out over the month of June. That means a lot to me.

My new HikeBikeTravel website

If you haven’t checked out my new website please do when you have a minute. I’m getting great feedback on the About Me page – and info under the header – attempts on husband’s life seems to make people laugh. I’ve added a photography and video gallery and even a store where I make a few pennies on any purchases you make.

10 Giveaways over the Month of June

You can look forward to 10 incredible giveaways over the next 3.5 weeks, beginning today so be sure to check out my website or Facebook page regularly in June.

  1. Being wanting to get out to the Purcell and the Bugaboos mountain ranges in BC. Hopefully they are covered in your “100 Nature Hot Spots in BC”‘. Thanks

      1. Alberta is best but I may be biased! Would actually love to tour more of Saskatchewan as I’ve heard there are many great areas to see.
I’ve used your blog many times while planning my adventures, it is such a great resource. Congratulations on your achievement and look forward to seeing more great content!

  2. Congratulations on 10 years Leigh! You are an inspiration. I’d love to explore more of California as my brother and family live there.

  3. Hi Leigh,
Congratulations on hitting such a milestone! 10 years is big! I love reading about your travels and am always inspired by your ability to get off the beaten path and really dig deep into a destination. I always seek out natural spots when I travel, and would love to get my hands on these books. I have only explored the eastern half of Canada and would LOVE to see more of British Columbia!

  4. Hi, I’m so excited to come across your blog and Instagram this morning!! I have lived in a few different Canadian provinces and am currently in Ontario, so would like to learn more about it. I’m recently retired and just purchased an RV, so would LOVE to explore CANADA over the next few years. I’m sure your books and blog will be a huge help in that regard.

  5. Congrats on 10 years & thanks for offering the giveaway! I’d love to get to Saskatchewan – it’s the last of the provinces I have left to visit in Canada, though I’d love to see what nature spots are in that Ontario book! 🙂

  6. Leigh,
Congratulations on your 10 year anniversary!! Your website is so informative and your pictures are so inviting. I would love to explore more of California, most especially Yosemite. I am also curious about the Islands of Haida Gwall in British Columbia. I have just begun to read an interesting book about the region, Haida Gwall: Islands of the People. So many places to explore. Thank you for all that you give in sharing so many wonderful places.

  7. Congrats on the new website! Looks great! I want to explore more in Canada and I love the idea of having a condensed guide to what to check out. There is also something to be said for having a physical book to hold while out and about instead of trying to squint at your phone to gather information. I especially want to experience ALL that Alberta has to offer!

  8. Heck. I am from the middle of the country, Saskatchewan, so I would love the SK/Man. book. HOWEVER!! If I won ANY of the others, it would certainly direct my summer plans! We are celebrating our 20th anniversary July 1 so, frankly, anything titled “Hotspot” would help us!

  9. Leigh,
Congratulations on your 10th anniversary! Your new website is awesome.
Toss up between BC and AB….both have such fabulous and beautiful places to explore. Keep up the great work.

  10. I have been receiving your newsletters via email for about 2 years now and I thoroughly enjoy each and everyone. My bucket list of travels continues to grow. While not on offer my next destination to explore will be NL however MB/SK or AB would all be great choices to have. Thank you for making this your life’s passion and sharing it out. Happy Travels to you.

  11. Ontario please! My fiance and I have been yogether three years but have yet to visit his home province. It would be wonderful to have some hot springs to encourage him to head back East for the first time in nearly two decades ????

  12. Oh I want to visit all of these places! But, visiting the Redwoods in California is very near to the top of my list.

  13. I would love to visit Ontario! I’ve never been East of Manitoba and I feel like I’m missing out on so much beauty!

  14. Hi Leigh
Thanks for sharing all your adventures! I live in BC but would love to explore Alberta more.

  15. I was eyeing the California one, but part of me wants to explore mostly Canada these days so I would pick British Columbia!

  16. We road trip annually from Saskatchewan to Vancouver to visit family and your blog is our go-to place for planning adventures along the way. I’m sure the Saskatchewan, Alberta and BC books would get the most use it I might be persuaded to venture East as well.

  17. Hey Leigh. Me, a Belgian woman, made a back pack travel of 3 weeks with 5 friends on Vancouver Island and in Yukon. That was june 2017. Now I’m planning to make a trip with my 2 sons in Alberta or/and Saskatchewan. That will be in july 2020. Canada is amazing! The vast open plains. The immense spaces. The great views from a ridge. The fabulous woods and clear lakes! I want to share these sensations with my sons. A good guide, in addition to your blogs 🙂 , might help!
I wish you more of the best.
